Residential Boiler Replacement Project Details:
A long term resident of Ancaster reached out to us online to inquire about our repair services for his leaking boiler. The hydronic baseboard heater system was 30 years old, and the client had neglected the issue for over two years, causing significant damage that rendered the boiler irreparable. After a thorough assessment, we recommended the Lochinvar WHB85, a top-of-the-line wall-hung boiler with a stainless steel fire tube heat exchanger, providing 85,000 BTUs of input. As part of our standard practice, we replaced all external components of the boiler system during the replacement. Our approach prioritizes quality and investment in the long-term, thus avoiding the reuse of parts to save a bit of money. The components replaced included the expansion tank, system circulator, thermostat, backflow preventer, and pressure reducing device (PRV).
Additionally, if the client needs to replace their rental standard vented water heater in the future, MDM Mechanical can replace the gas fired water heater with an indirect water heater which is heated by the new high efficiency boiler. By doing so, the wall hung condensing boiler could efficiently take care of both the home heating and domestic hot water requirements.
